Nature’s Home Remedy for Nail Fungus

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Jon Group Home Remedy for Nail Fungus - Oregano Oil Also referred to as onychomycosis, toenail fungus or nail fungus is an extremely common condition that, if left untreated, can become quite unsightly and painful. Beginning as a light colored spot under the tip of the toenail, this fungus can continue to spread until the entire toenail becomes thick and yellow with crumbling edges. If no treatment is given to destroy the fungus, the fungus will continue to grow and eventually the toenail will have a distorted shape, the color may become green, brown, or black. If allowed to grow unchecked the fungus will deteriorate the condition of the toenail and a foul odor will be present. At this point the nail may become completely detached from the toe and there may be some significant pain in the toe itself. Fortunately, toenail fungus does not have to be accepted as a distasteful part of life. There are many treatments available to eradicate the fungus that causes this unpleasant condition. Research has shown that oregano oil is just as effective as over the counter and prescription medications, however, it is gentler on sensitive skin and typically costs less. Used both topically and internally, oil of oregano is a potent, natural antiseptic. Researchers have found that it is very effective specifically in fighting yeast, bacterial and fungal infections. Not to be confused with the spice oregano, which is actually oregano marjoram, the essential oil of oregano is distilled from the leaves of the oregano plant. The active ingredients in this product are thymol and carvacrol, which may constitute up to 90% of the oil in the highest quality of brands. It is important when purchasing this product, usually at a health food store or online, that you use a reputable dealer. Studies have shown that portions of the oil of oregano products on the market are actually made from the oregano marjoram that you can find in your cupboard. This product actually contains no therapeutic properties. Taken internally, oil of oregano has been shown to be comparable to penicillin in fighting the Staphylococcus, E. coli, and Listeria and over 25 other powerful bacteria. This powerful natural oil has also been used with great success to eradicate intestinal parasites. Oil of oregano can be used to eliminate excessive amounts of the yeast candida in the body. Several weeks of continuous use have been shown to cure even the most difficult cases of yeast infection. The gum disease gingivitis and athlete’s foot are also treatable with oil of oregano. Oregano oil has received much attention for its ability to combat fungal infections of the toenail. There are no known negative drug interactions associated with oregano oil. However, it is quickly absorbed and should be taken with food to prevent upset stomach and heartburn. Although oregano oil is much gentler than many chemical treatments for toenail fungus, it may irritate sensitive skin, especially around the eyes and should never be used on the skin at full strength. If using this volatile oil topically it should always be diluted with another pure vegetable oil. Before using this product it is wise to do an allergy test by swabbing some of the oil on the inner arm. If the skin becomes red, swollen, or itchy, do not use it on other parts of the body. To treat toenail fungus apply a mixture of oregano oil and olive, almond, or other pure vegetable oil to all areas of the toenail and finger that are affected by the fungus. The oil will absorb into the toenail and kill the fungus. This treatment should be done two to three times daily. It is essential to complete this therapy daily for four to six months. Even as the fungus dies and the toenail begins to clear it is vital to continue the treatment until the infected portion of the toenail has completely grown out. Once the fungus has been eradicated and the toenail is completely healthy, it is vital to take steps to ensure that the fungus does not return. If you typically have a salon pedicure, be sure that it is a reputable one that understands the importance of sterilizing all manicure equipment. It also may be necessary to discontinue using toenail polish as it can trap moisture under the polish and encourage the growth of fungus. It is also important to keep the hands clean, especially after contacting fungus that may reside on other toenails because of the contagious nature of the fungus. Wear socks that allow the feet to breathe, such as those made from natural fibers such as cotton. If you have exceptionally sweaty feet, give them ample time to dry out during the day, if possible. Never pick at toenails or skin around the toenails; as open skin is essentially an open door for germs. Keeping toenails clean and trimmed is important because fungus can make a home under the toenail. Additional factors that put you at risk for nail fungus infections are cigarette smoking, diabetes, and working in an environment that causes continual sweating. By knowing the causes and the simple, effective treatment of natural apple cider vinegar, toenail fungus should no longer be a health concern. In addition to these precautions, maintaining general good health will also lower your risk of developing toenail fungus. Because fungus is only able to grow if your immune system is unable to fight it, take steps to see that your immune system is strong by eating well, getting enough rest, and exercising. Bipolar Basics

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Nikola Marshall Bipolar is an illness that is little understood by the general population. Unless you or someone close to you is affected by it, chances are you have a certain amount of misconceptions. A basic working knowledge of the illness is in order. More than two million American adults suffer from bipolar. The illness typically develops in the late teens or early adulthood, although it can manifest in early childhood or later in life. Those affected may suffer for years before being properly diagnosed. Bipolar is characterized by dramatic shifts in mood, energy and ability to function. It can be the source for damaged relationships, poor job performance and even suicide. The good news is that it is treatable! There are two main kinds of bipolar, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is more typical and the more severe of the two. Type 1 has recurrent episodes, or mood swings and is more prone to psychotic episodes. Type 2s never develop severe mania, but milder episodes of hypomania that alternate with depression. If a person had four or more episodes during a twelve month time period, it is considered rapid cycling. An explanation of terms is required here. Dramatic mood swings are referred to as episodes. Psychotic episodes include hallucinations and delusions and these will reflect the mood the person is in at the time. Hypomania is a mild to moderate level of mania. Without treatment, it can become severe or switch to depression. Mixed states are when symptoms appear together, such as agitation, trouble sleeping, psychosis and suicidal thoughts. Both mania and depression have a set of typical symptoms. Manic symptoms can include: increased energy/activity, restlessness, euphoric mood, irritability, racing thoughts, talking fast/jumping from subject to subject, lack of concentration, insomnia, spending sprees, increase in sex drive, abuse of narcotics, aggressiveness, and denial that anything is wrong. Depressive symptoms can include: lasting sad/anxious/empty mood, hopelessness, guilt, worthlessness, helplessness, lack of interest in things once enjoyed, decreased energy, difficulty concentrating/remembering/making decisions, sleeping too much, change in appetite, and suicidal thoughts. Bipolar is a treatable illness. It is up to the patient to follow therapy. If not, their episodes can become more often and become more severe. This is but a very basic introduction to bipolar. It is one of the remaining few mental illnesses with a stigma attached. With education, the public will have a better understanding and eventually, the stigma will be lifted from this illness too. Bonsai Gardening - Introduction to a Living Art

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Randy Zakowski The first thing that comes to mind when you say the word art is sculptures and painting. However, there is one kind of sculpture that is very popular but does not make use of wood and stone, but its own materials, which is known as bonsai. Bonsai, derived from a Japanese word meaning ‘tree in a tray’, is an art that creates miniature bushes and trees. Through careful pruning and years of shaping and patience, the masterpieces are created by using ordinary specifics and creating bonsai. It is not an art that just anyone can do; it takes a lot of care and patience, to create healthy plants. These are actual plants from ordinary species, such as maple or pine, which are shaped and grown in a small pot. The artist has to control the perfect temperature and soil type to succeed. They must also possess the right temperament and techniques to perfectly prune the bonsai. There are many various ways of performing the art and it takes a great deal of practice in potting and repotting to attain the results. The art of bonsai is an exact science right down to the watering of the bushes and trees. If you water the plant too much you will have a plant that becomes water logged and will likely develop root rot and fungi. With too little water, you will find the soil dries very quickly, eventually drying the leaves and killing the tree. Every aspect of the art interacts with other aspects. For example, potting and soil practices depend on pruning and shaping techniques used, as well as drainage of the trees and bushes. When it comes to art, bonsai is one of the hardest types to create. This is because all of the above elements, plus others has to be nearly perfect in order for the bushes and trees to survive. However, that is not all; this art also requires implementing pleasing colors, shapes, and styles in both the areas of the pot and plant to appeal to buyers. When it comes to bonsai, there are 5 basic styles. These are known as semi-cascade, cascade, slanting, informal upright, and formal upright. While these are the basics, there are many advanced styles as well; one of which is called literati. You could not learn and master this art in the time frame of a month. Many artists work on one product for several years to create one tree. However, this tree may last more than one hundred years. Because of their longevity, these trees are generally passed from one generation to another, with each passing generating adding their own style to the tree. The art and mastery of bonsai takes years of experience and training. It is not easy to create miniature bushes and trees from an ordinary species, just as it is not easy to create an ordinary species as it is. Many people enjoy bonsai because it is handcrafted and takes us back to a time when technology was not an intrusion. Mass production was not available, neither were cell phones, hi-fi televisions, or high priced automobiles. It takes us back to a simpler time, when everything was just. Realtors: Select Your Niche!

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

By Evy Schwartz At first it makes no sense. How can limiting the amount of prospects increase sales? Well, I am here to tell you if you want to grow your business and close more deals, you should select a niche. No realtor can be everything to everyone. There is an old saying in the sales and marketing arena: spray and pray. That is when you spray everyone you can with your marketing efforts and pray a few people respond. Does that sound like an effective marketing plan? The best way to get a higher response when designing your real estate marketing material is to target them to a particular audience. Think about itwhat is important to an FSBO prospect may not be critical to a person selling their condo. If you can speak the language of your target market, then you are almost there. Dont forget when a prospect receives a real estate postcard, letter or visits your website they are thinking “Whats in it for me?” You have to deliver on this thought with content that is relevant to that particular prospect. A buyer and seller will have very different desires regarding their realtor experience. You must speak directly to them or risk that they will go to someone else. Dont take my word for it, other giants in real estate marketing are preaching the same thing. Michael Russer, aka Mr. Internet, is one of the top gurus of real estate marketing. He states that the major benefits of niche real estate marketing are: Eliminating 98% of your competition: those who have not chosen to specialize Saving real estate marketing dollars by sending out less letters and postcards but getting as good as or better of a response rate You can get started right away by redesigning your website to focus on your niche. Grab the attention and trust of your visitors. In fact, your niche market will be able to find you a lot faster if you have a website targeted to them. Then, you should redesign your marketing materials to speak to your target market. A qualified copywriter should be able to write the real estate marketing content so your response rate increases. Coming Clean: The Truth About Soap

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Chere Deshayes What Is Soap? Soap is the oldest cleanser around. It is created by a chemical reaction between oils, water and lye. Although lye is used to make soap there is no lye left after saponification (the chemical reaction that makes soap) is complete. There is no such thing as a bar of soap that was made without the use of lye. Different kinds of soap are made using a variety of different oils. Both animal & plant oils can be used in the soap making process, each adding different qualities to the soap. Conventional Bar Soaps Much of the soap available in the store today is not really soap at all, but a detergent. Detergents are a petroleum based product, like gasoline and kerosene. Have you ever noticed how regular soap leaves your skin feeling dry, itchy and tight? Alkali, the most common irritant in soap is often the culprit. Others ingredients in mass-marketed soap have been proven harmful to human health and can cause severe skin irritations in some people. These include ingredients such as DEA, Isopropyl Alcohol, BHT and Triclosan (commonly found in anti-bacterial soap). The most common ingredient in conventional bar soaps is sodium tallowate. It is the natural product of combining tallow, or beef fat, with lye. The attractiveness for tallow for mass producing soap is that it processes quickly, produces a hard bar of soap and is cheap and plentiful. The New Bar On The Block While there is nothing new about handmade soap, its popularity is growing rapidly. The sales of handmade soap continue to grow as part of societys movement toward buying products that are healthy and good for the environment. With the ever increasing use of synthetic chemicals and studies about their dangerous effects, consumers are on the lookout for more green alternatives. Benefits Of Handmade Soap Evidence abounds of the healing properties of a handmade bar of soap. Those who suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, as well as people that have sensitive skin or are hypoallergenic often find immediate relief by switching to handmade soap. Compared to store bought soap, handmade soap is very mild. They are often made from vegetable-based oils, such as olive, coconut, and palm and do not contain the potentially harmful chemicals found in conventional bar soap. One of the biggest differences between commercial soap and handmade soap is glycerine. Glycerine is a clear liquid that absorbs water from the air and is a key factor in keeping skin soft and healthy. Glycerin soap is especially good for sensitive and delicate skin, and for children. Because it is a high quality by-product in the soap making process, many mass commercial soap manufacturers often extract the glycerine and sell it as a by-product to be used in higher priced products like lotions and skin creams. Handmade Soap Is Good For Your Body For adults, the skin covers approximately 20 square feet of the human body. It is the largest human organ and is the bodies first line of defense against dehydration, temperature, infection and harmful substances. Handmade soaps give your skin the care it deserves and make bathing a gentle, soothing experience. Handmade Soap Is Good For Your Mind For many of us today, life seems to move at an often hectic pace. While the stress of everyday life increases, personal time is at minimum. A fragrant, handmade bar of soap is a simple indulgence that fosters a feeling of relaxation and being pampered. Treat yourself or someone you love to the benefits of handmade soap! Are Your Lack of Marketing and Selling Skills Holding You Back from the Success You Deserve?

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Denise Michaels Does the thought of marketing your business drive you to chocolate? If getting the word out makes you feel overwhelmed, youre not alone. After coaching over 1,200 men and women the last four years Ive discovered big differences between the genders and how we handle the challenges marketing throws at all small businesses. Women Still Not Taken Seriously in the Business World Did you know women are starting businesses at 2-4 times the rate of men? Women-owned businesses employ more people than the Fortune 500 combined. But businesses owned by women are often still not taken seriously. My book, Testosterone-Free Marketing: The Yin and Yang of Marketing for Women is about why marketing and sales make many women uneasy and what they can do about it to enjoy more success and put more profits in your purse. Cant Relate to Testosterone-Heavy Marketing? Many women cant relate to pushy sales and marketing tactics about guns and guerrillas found in most marketing books, tapes and seminars. Women want to create relationships, not warfare. The rest of our lives are about building connections and extending a hand in friendship. We hate being pushy or annoying. So we wait for others to initiate a purchase. This is especially true for women raised to be a good girl and not toot their own horn. Our conditioning and how we were raised as girls impacts our success and cash flow. Talented Women at the Crossroads of Success One woman I coached had a delightfully outgoing personality and a network marketing business. She is an amazing story of a person who used her company’s products and was cured of two chronic, debilitating disease conditions. Susan was comfortable signing up people to her business opportunity who she believed would benefit from her companys product. These people became customers and ordered the product faithfully. But to create a business that would generate a full-time income she knew she must recruit business builders. She asked, “Gosh Denise, why would they possibly be interested in me?” It was difficult for her to admit, but Susan realized with the people who needed the product for their health she felt a bit superior, needed and adored. She even gave the product away but her husband put a stop to that. With business builder types she didn’t feel superior, adored or even equal. We all have something of value to offer others even if it’s not as easy to see on the surface as being beautiful or being rich. Your uniqueness will be the reason people will want to do business with you. If you feel inadequate when you compare yourself with others, its not a business problem - its a self-confidence issue. Ive helped many women in a myriad of businesses from professionals with doctorates to business newbies to boost their sales and enjoy more freedom. To discover how my Testosterone-Free Marketing can help you, go to http://www.MarketingForHer.com and click on Get the Book!Nurturing Women Can Have Abundant Cash Flow, Too Women often bring to their home-based businesses the same nesting, nurturing characteristics as at home. They also bring the expertise they have around their products and services. Marketing and sales is out of their comfort zone. But more product knowledge will not help most women to sell more and create more cash flow. Marketing and selling skills absolutely necessary to create abundant cash flow even if we do it far differently from the men. The Secrets of Asking and Receiving in the Business World Marketing is about asking for what you want. In personal relationships its often wise counsel to wait for others to call you, in business its counter-productive. We cant wait for customers to approach us the way we waited for the cute boy who sat next to us in high school History class to call for a date. Yet, Ive talked with countless women business owners who do this. Testosterone-Free Marketing will teach you to ask without asking so its painless and more profitable. Business will come to you, when you let the world know you are here, you are competent and you are ready. Peptic Ulcer Helicobacter Pylori - The Tissue Test

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Neil_Hawkes] Neil Hawkes These require a tiny specimen of the stomach lining called a biopsy, which is taken during an endoscopy. The specimen is placed in a special solution (either liquid or gel), which changes colour if Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) is present; this is called a urease test. H. pylori organisms secrete a protein chemical called urease, which converts urea (a substance present in the bloodstream and in urine produced by the breakdown of protein) to ammonia. The diagnostic solutions contain urea and an alkali indicator. If H. pylori is present within the biopsy, placed in the test solution then the urea is converted into ammonia, which causes the alkali indicator to change colour, thus producing a positive test. Depending on which test solution used, the result takes from a few minutes to 24 hours to become available. In addition to the urease test, the biopsy specimen can also be sent to the pathology department to be looked at under the microscope. Not only can the rnicroscopic H. pylori themselves be seen in this way but so can the associated microscopic stomach inflammation called gastritis. The main advantage of these tests is that they are the most accurate available and confirm whether or not active H. pylori is present at the time of the test. In addition, while performing the endoscopy, the doctor can see if there is anv evidence of a peptic ulcer, suggesting that H. pylori should be eradicated. The disadvantage of tissue testing is that it requires an endoscopy, but looking for H. pylori is rarely the only reason for doing such an investigation, so it makes sense to do a biopsy at the same time anyway. In common with some other H. pylori tests, the results can be incorrectly interpreted if vou are taking a type of medication called a proton pump inhibitor (such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole), which suppresses the bacterium without actually killing it. SEO 2007: The Know-How you Need to Succeed

Monday, November 19th, 2007

By Jon Heusman Of all the challenges that webmasters face, SEO is one of the most daunting. If you are unsure what it is, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, meaning how you as a webmaster can get Google, Yahoo, and MSN among others to rank your website in the top search results for the keywords you are targeting. When I personally approach SEO, I do not look at it as a single all encompassing thing. Instead, I break it down, into the 2 important categories that I can focus on. In its simplest form, I like to divide SEO down into 2 more manageable areas. The first of two categories is On-site Optimization, and the second area, predictably is Off-site Optimization. Both are important, this is one thing many webmasters do not understand. Some of them preach that on-site optimization is truly the only important form of SEO, while others will tell you that off-site optimization is what will get you top rankings in the search engines. But the real deal is that they are both important, and you should not ignore either of them. So what is the difference between the two. In a nutshell, On-site optimization is doing everything necessary to optimize your own webpage. Off-site optimization is the Link Popularity, Link Relevance, and anything else that is not a direct change to your own webpage. For a good example of just how powerful Off-site optimization is, Google the word failure. I am sure that George Bush is not optimizing for that term anywhere on the Whitehouse webpage. In my opinion, the key factors of SEO, in no particular order are: 1) Link Popularity and Link Relevance (Off-site) 2) Internal Linking Structure (On-site) 3) Content Relevance (On-site) 4) Crawl-ability / Code Optimization (On-site) This may seem like I a dumbing down of the art of SEO, which in some regards it is. However, the key factors that I just mentioned above are the basis and are easily broken down into much finer detail, such as the kind that you may find in an in-depth book or report. One thing to keep in mind with SEO in 2007 is that getting high rankings on the Search Engines is not going to happen overnight, sometimes not even for months, just because you have optimized your webpage. If this were 7 or 8 years ago, then keyword stuffing and meta-tags would work just fine. But that form of optimization will just not cut it in todays competitive search engine market. This is no reason to get discouraged however. Just make sure that you utilize a balanced attack of on-site and off-site optimization, through utilization of social-networking sites, link partnering, quality content, text link campaigns and more. 5 Easy Steps to Successful Marketing

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

By Gabrielle Melisende Marketing is not rocket science. Anyone can do it and within any budget, even zero dollars. Marketing successfully, however, and maximizing your efforts, does require a certain amount of knowledge, research, planning and preparation. Marketing in the dark (without doing your homework) is both foolish and costly. Many entrepreneurs and small business owners have a minimal, if any, marketing budget. Choosing the right marketing strategies, form and placement is essential for both short- and long-term success. Knowing how and where to market is only part of the equation. It must be combined with a clear understanding of why you are marketing and why a specific strategy is being used. Each of the steps below can be performed individually, and should be used often. The knowledge you will gain about your self, business and market is invaluable. When these steps are combined, you have a recipe for successful marketing that will stand the test of time, even in changing markets. Use the 5 Easy Steps to Successful Marketing to develop marketing plans, campaigns, product promotions, marketing strategies and more to meet your specific business goals. Start with a goal. Before embarking on any marketing endeavor define what youre selling and the desired end result or goal. Identify your market, or target audience. Who needs or uses your product or service? Flush out where your market is hiding. Combine research and creativity to discover the whereabouts of your market, or target audience. Strategize how to reach your market. Be careful not to let your circumstances drive this step so you can discover many ways to reach your market. Choose one or more strategies and begin marketing. Considerations may be timing, inventory, seasonal uses, cost, and so on. 2006 Gabrielle Melisende. All rights reserved worldwide.
